Bosses

> Game Rules

Since update 2.40, you can take on 3 bosses from the Garden!

Each boss can be fought by a group of 1 to 8 leeks. So you can team up with other farmers to help each other out!

Nasu Samurai

(Level 100, ) - Recommended level: 450

Welcome to the Nasu Samurai's garden! The eggplants train every day to become better fighters, and they don't seem to like leeks coming to disturb their peace...

Opponents to face

1 Nasu Samurai 1 Nasu Rōnin 3 Nasu Warriors 3 Nasu Students

Strategy against the Nasu

Nothing special. The opponents deal almost nothing but damage (few poisons). Be careful though, they hit pretty hard with their Katanas if they manage to reach you in melee!

Fennel King

(Level 200, ) - Recommended level: 1200

Here you are at the gates of the Fennel King's castle! These walls and moats allow the Fennels to protect the holy Grail, from which they draw divine protection, gathered around the round table. To storm the castle, you're going to have to be clever...

Opponents to face

1 Fennel King 1 Fennel Scribe 4 Fennel Knights 2 Fennel Squires 1 Grail 4 colored Crystals (red, green, blue, yellow)

Strategy against the Fennel King

The Grail and the crystals do not move; only the Grail attacks, with Fireball (see its profile). At the start of the fight, the Grail casts the "Divine Protection" spell, which makes all enemies invulnerable (except the crystals).

In order to make the enemies vulnerable, you will need to be clever and move the crystals (or the Grail if you're feeling adventurous) so that each crystal projects its colored beam\* onto the matching gem of the Grail.

\* This projected beam has infinite range and passes through entities. Only the red beam can be blocked by an obstacle (it's the only one whose path can run into one on this map). Beware, if any crystals are destroyed when the Grail's turn comes, it will cast the "Apocalypse" spell, which will cause... try it, you'll see! On the Grail's turn, if the crystals are correctly placed, it self-destructs and the enemies become vulnerable.

Once the enemies are vulnerable again, you can kill them normally! However, these enemies are not to be taken lightly! Armed with incendiary chips and heavy swords, they are dangerous at range as well as in melee. Particular attention should be paid to the Fennel King, who wields the sacred sword Excalibur, a sword that deals heavy damage along with a substantial poison. Get your antidotes ready! Note: you also need to kill the crystals in order to win the fight.

Evil Pumpkin

(Level 300, ) - Minimum recommended level: 8 leeks of level 301

Brr, this cemetery is creepy... And it even looks like it's haunted by cursed squashes!

Opponents to face

1 Evil Pumpkin 2 Warties (only one present at the start of the fight) 2 Hubbards (only one present at the start of the fight) 2 Turban Squashes (only one present at the start of the fight) 1 Offspring (not present at the start of the fight)

Strategy against the Pumpkin

If you start a fight against this boss, you will notice that the Evil Pumpkin and its minions initially have an invulnerability state. On top of that, they regularly summon new enemies on cells that seem impossible to predict!

Could the strange language they use hold clues to breaking this infernal mechanic? It's up to you to unlock the secrets of this rather tough opponent!

Rewards

Each defeated boss grants experience to every leek in the group: it depends on the group's level and is multiplied in case of a quick victory.

Each boss can also drop resources:

Finally, each boss has its own dedicated rankings, and several trophies are tied to boss fights.

Tips

Sacrifice to bait better: The Nasu Samurai can be hard to attack at low level, because it sticks close to its henchmen... But it seems to throw all caution to the wind if it can kill someone (as observed by players), for instance a fragile lower-level leek accompanying you. It's cruel to sacrifice the weakest, but if it's for a good cause...

I can't be bothered to code movements with boxing glove and grapple, or the resurrection trick: The Grail casts its Apocalypse spell if, on its turn, a crystal (or several) is missing (dead). However, nothing stops you from killing a crystal and then resurrecting it on a cell of your choosing!

The pumpkin riddle: It's up to you to figure it out. Alright, to help you out, here's the forum thread dedicated to the clues gathered by the community. And as a bonus, three hints announced by Pilow: Glagolitic, Concatenation, Factorization. Good luck!

Code

You can tell you are in a boss fight thanks to the getFightType\(\) function, which will then return the constant FIGHT_TYPE_BOSS. You can tell which boss you are fighting thanks to the getFightBoss\(\) function, which will then return one of the constants BOSS_NASU_SAMURAI, BOSS_FENNEL_KING or BOSS_EVIL_PUMPKIN. All the opponents present in a boss fight* are of type ENTITY_MOB (return value of the getType function). \* except for any chests present in the fight, of course!

Here is the constant matching each mob:

| Mob | Constant | |---|---| | Nasu Samurai | MOB_NASU_SAMURAI | | Nasu Rōnin | MOB_NASU_RONIN | | Nasu Warrior | MOB_NASU_WARRIOR | | Nasu Student | MOB_NASU_SEITO | | Fennel King | MOB_FENNEL_KING | | Fennel Scribe | MOB_FENNEL_SCRIBE | | Fennel Knight | MOB_FENNEL_KNIGHT | | Fennel Squire | MOB_FENNEL_SQUIRE | | Grail | MOB_GRAAL | | Red Crystal | MOB_RED_CRYSTAL | | Green Crystal | MOB_GREEN_CRYSTAL | | Blue Crystal | MOB_BLUE_CRYSTAL | | Yellow Crystal | MOB_YELLOW_CRYSTAL | | Evil Pumpkin | MOB_EVIL_PUMPKIN | | Warty | MOB_WARTY | | Hubbard | MOB_HUBBARD | | Turban Squash | MOB_TURBAN | | Offspring | MOB_OFFSPRING |

Note: since update 2.45, it is recommended to use the getMobType function, which returns one of these constants, rather than getName.
