Max Life

Max Life

The max life (or maximum life) of a leek is an important concept during a fight in the Garden. An entity stays in play as long as it still has life points, and its life is capped by its max life! So even if your Life/Max Life ratio is high, you are never safe from an opponent who gradually lowers your max life so they can quickly finish you off when the chance comes.

>To check an entity's life points, you can use the getLife function in your code. To check an entity's max life, use the getTotalLife function.

The Capital Points you invest in Life Points increase your max life. At the start of a fight, the Life of your Leek is equal to its Max Life.

Just like your life, your max life changes during a fight. But changes to your Max Life are not necessarily tied to changes to your Life Points. Three mechanisms can come into play:

To increase an entity's max life:

Armoring

Mutation

Loam

Fertilizer

Elevation

Transmutation

To reduce an entity's max life:

Alteration

Disintegration

Mysterious Electrisor

Quantum Rifle

You can bring entities back to life with the Resurrection chip, but the entity does not get all of its max life back.

What sets max life boosting chips apart

One thing that sets max life boosting chips apart is that their effect is permanent for the whole fight.

The effect does not wear off after a set duration, and casting Liberation on the affected leek will not cancel it.

Finally, since this effect is permanent, it does not appear in the list of Effects returned by the getEffects function.

Fun fact: the size of your leek in a Garden fight depends on its max life.
