Transmutation is a more powerful version of the Mutation chip. So Transmutation also increases your Max Life without healing you. Its effect scales with the Science of the leek that uses it. Its square AoE, AREA_SQUARE_1, is smaller, and unlike Mutation, the caster can't stand in the center of the chip's activation circle.

To prevent any homunculi from appearing, it is strictly forbidden to use these circles on leek remains. To bring back the tender stalks of your comrades, there's no need for a philosopher's stone: please use the Resurrection chip like everyone else.

Although no machine or equipment other than the chip is needed to produce the energy required for transmutation, understanding the sequence of the transmutation and the limits of equivalent exchange isn't enough. Here, the equivalent exchange is the transfer of TP into Max Life.

To start an alchemical transmutation, you need a symbol called a transmutation circle (錬成陣, Renseijin). A transmutation circle can either be drawn on the spot when a transmutation is needed (in chalk, pencil, ink, paint, thread, leek blood, or even traced with your opponents' tears) or etched or permanently inscribed on the leek's body beforehand, but without one, transmutation is usually impossible.

Every transmutation circle is made of two parts:

The circle itself is a conduit that focuses and dictates the flow of power (nothing to do with getPower), tapping into the energies that already exist in the soil of the Garden, the matter of the cosmos and the sap of leeks. It represents the cyclical flow of the world's energies and phenomena, and turns that power to manipulable ends.

Inside the circle are specific alchemical runes. These runes, or Chips, vary greatly depending on the alchemical studies, texts and experiments of ancient leeks, whose knowledge is passed down between leeks quantitatively, as a measurable value (in the Lebesgue sense) called Science. They correspond to different forms of energy, allowing the energy focused in the circle to be released in the way most conducive to the effect the alchemist wants (=EFFECT_NOVA_VITALITY). In basic alchemy, these runes often take the form of triangles (which, positioned differently, can represent the elements of water, earth, fire or air), but they are often made of various polygons built from different triangles. Pythagoras himself would have been surprised at everything you can do with triangles. For example, the hexagram is a basic rune commonly used in transmutation circles, because it creates eight multidirectional triangles when inscribed and can therefore represent all four classical elements at once. Other, more esoteric runes (including astrological symbols, symbolic images and various lines of text) are widespread and stand for a host of other specific functions for the alchemical energy being released. And yes, our leeks don't just use a chip that goes putibutibutibu (click on the chip if you don't believe me) and adds max life. It's a tad more subtle, even if in practice the result is the same.

Fun fact: ordinary transmutations in the manga tend to give off a light blue, almost white glow. It's the most common and versatile color produced. Which is quite reminiscent of the one used for this chip: it all ties together.
