Unsurprisingly, life points increases your amount of Life Points. An entity stays in play as long as it has Life Points left.

At level 1, a leek has 100 Life Points. After that, it gains 3 extra life points each level. These life points form a life point base.

LifeBase = 100 + ((Level - 1) * 3)

In addition to this life point base, you can spend capital points in life. Depending on the amount of capital spent in Life, the Life/Capital ratio changes:

Life added | Life/Capital ratio ------------|-------------------- Life added < 1000 | 1 Capital for 4 Life Points 1000 <= Life added < 2000 | 1 Capital for 3 Life Points 2000 <= Life added | 1 Capital for 2 Life Points

Investing in Life Points will allow your leek to take more damage before it dies and is recycled into compost.
