Hindrances are the Effects that lower the Characteristics of a Leek. They can be applied either by chips:

Hindrances are affected by the Magic of the leek that uses the chip or weapon. They can only remove a whole number of characteristic points from a leek: the value is always rounded up. Thus, Slow down, Tranquilizer, Glaive and Katana need the leek that uses them to have Magic points for the hindrances to take effect.
The formula for calculating the value of the hindrance (i.e. the amount of points removed from the target's characteristic) is:
final hindrance = round(base * (1 + casting_magic / 100))
where base is a randomly drawn float uniformly between the bounds indicated by the weapon or chip (for Slow down, for example, base is a random value between 0.3 and 0.4).
Note the presence of the round: for the other effects (healing, damage, armour, etc.), we are rarely close to 1. Here, for the impediments of MP and TP, each point counts, and the fact that it is a round and not a floor or a ceil has its importance.

When the table indicates "n or n+1", the chances of obtaining n+1 rather than n increase with caster_magic.
The calculations are made up to 960, which is the theoretical maximum for the characteristics of a leek (without buffs, you can exceed thanks to Wizardry).
