Chest Hunt

Chest Hunt

> Arenas

The Chest Hunt is a type of arena in which leeks must fight to grab the loot from the chests present on the map.

Mechanics

At the start of the fight, chests appear in the middle of the map, in random number: the first one is guaranteed, then each subsequent chest has a 90 % chance of appearing relative to the previous one. There are three types — wood (2 000 HP), iron (5 000 HP) and diamond (20 000 HP) —, the sturdiest ones also being the richest.

The leeks' goal is to open them, while eliminating their opponents. The fight only ends once all the chests have been opened: if all the leeks die before that, it goes on until the 64-turn limit. At the end of the fight, the contents of the opened chests are not shared: each resource is randomly given to a surviving leek, regardless of which leek opened the chest. If no chest has been opened by the end of the fight, the loot is lost and the fight rewards (habs, XP) are ×1 instead of ×3.

This game mode is a kind of Prisoner's dilemma, since a leek that eliminates all its opponents may not be able to open any diamond chests present on the map. On the other hand, if it leaves its opponents alive, it may get eliminated or lose out in the final distribution of resources, notably because there are too many winners.

Since the chests are all members of the same team, they will not attack each other and will, on the contrary, heal each other if needed.
