Returns the value of the map map associated with the key key, or default if the key does not exist in the map.

Parameters

• map: The map.
• key: The key.
• default: The default value (null by default).

• element: The value.

TypeScript

In JavaScript, a map is a Map: m.get(key) returns undefined when the key is missing, whereas mapGet in LeekScript returns null — test === undefined, or m.has(key). Never write m[key] on a Map: that sets an ordinary property on the object, invisible to get, has and size. Finally, a Map compares object keys by identity: two objects with the same content are two different keys.

Python

In Python, a map is a dict: m[key] raises a KeyError when the key is missing, whereas mapGet in LeekScript returns null. Write m.get(key), which returns None, or m.get(key, fallback) for a fallback value; key in m tests whether the key is there without raising anything. Note that the keys of a dict must be hashable: a number, a string or a tuple will do, but a list raises a TypeError.
