Determines the position of the first occurrence of the string search in the string string.

Parameters

• string The string where the search will be performed.
• search The string to search for.
• start The search start position, by default the beginning of the string (0).

Return

• index The position of the first occurrence of search in string, -1 if the string was not found.

Examples

indexOf("Hello", "llo") // 2 indexOf("Hello", "zzz") // -1 indexOf("Hello world", "l", 0) // 2 indexOf("Hello world", "l", 5) // 9
