Have you learned to love Leek Wars, its Leek Script and its community? And would you like to contribute?
That's good ! Here are some ways to help and encourage you!
The community
The Chat
(Just in case, it's over here!)
It is a form of contribution in itself. A game's community is vital to a game. A great community can make a boring game interesting. Likewise, a bad community can ruin a great game.
On the chat you can chat with many people. Just like in life. But with leeks, it's even better!
It's also a good way to learn more about the game. The chat conveys a lot of good advice on the game. Then it will be up to you to share your knowledge with the beginners.
Many people are regularly present on the chat. To help newcomers, to answer questions, to chat quietly, or to go into wacky delirium. They are the face of the community. They don't bite, say hello! (But don't feed them after midnight!)
The Forum
(This is where it's happening!)
Like the chat, the forum is a gold mine of information on the game. But also a place to discuss all sorts of subjects.
But the messages are more durable there than in the chat. This opens up other possibilities.
For example, you can find contests there, which will allow you to compare your talents with other players. As well as "benches", in order to compare your algorithms to others with an identical data set. These topics are often rich in optimization ideas.
It is also on the forum that you can trigger debates on different aspects of the game, or propose new ideas for weapons, chips, gameplay and others. Or, come and report a bug, so that it can be corrected.
The Encyclopedia
Since you are reading these lines, you surely see what it is all about.
The encyclopedia is born thanks to the players, is updated by the players, and is intended... for the players!
Players can contribute to the encyclopedia, if they have contributor status, and add their information, advice, and tips.
You will find many pages there. Some explaining the different notions of the game. Others guiding you in the realization of a precise algorithm.
Don't hesitate to lend a hand, it's always appreciated! Whether by correcting possible typos, or by writing superb articles on the reproduction of leeks in temperate climates.
Github
In September 2016, Pilow made a very interesting announcement for people who wanted to contribute by programming.
Indeed, the source code of certain parts of Leek Wars is now available to everyone. You can see the Github Organization page here: Github Leek Wars
You can therefore find various projects such as:
There are several ways to contribute on Github, but in all cases you will need an account. (Over here!)
The Issues
On the different projects of Leek Wars, you will find a tab named "Issues".
Issues allow you to note bugs encountered, but also ideas for improvement.
But, be careful before creating an exit. Try not to create duplicates, if a bug has already been reported, or the idea already proposed.
Pull Requests
"Pull Requests" (Or PR) are a way of proposing a modification to the code of a project to its author(s).
Indeed, via Github, you can retrieve a copy of the project on your computer and modify it as you wish.
Thus, you can for example solve a bug, or develop a new feature. To then propose it to Pilow.
(Of course, Pilow remains in control of his project. The final decision whether or not to integrate a PR is up to him.)
If you want to contribute via pull requests, you can find more info here: Contribute via Github
